Happy Monday, Friends!
I’m bringing you a book review of Betsy by Sarah Monzon. It’s the last book in the Sewing in SoCal series. You can find interviews and/or reviews on book 1, book 2, book 3, and book 4 on the site. Grab a cup of coffee (or tea) and read on!
About the Book

Rule #1. Never fall for a musician
Rule #2. There are no exceptions to rule #1
As a professional sound engineer, I’m around musicians every day, so I know what I’m talking about when I say they aren’t boyfriend material. They’re only looking out for number one, and that ain’t you, honey. Give them a map with destination Not on Your Life, Mister highlighted, underlined, and circled for good measure.
That being said, what am I supposed to do with Asher North, lead singer of the band True North and my new boss? My glares don’t intimidate him, and my sarcasm only seems to draw him closer instead of pushing him away. The longer we’re on tour together, the less my rules make sense. And the more he looks at me the way he does, as if he can see right through the wall I’ve so diligently constructed, the more I want to throw those rules right out the window.
My Thoughts

I’m a huge fan of Sarah Monzon’s writing and now that I’m her critique partner (I haven’t always been), I take joy in seeing her process from beginning to end. Betsy was one of those books that quickly grabbed me and had me engaged until the very lat page.
I’m not sure what more I can say that will encompass all this book is and why you should pick it up.
Maybe because it’s engaging from the very beginning. A grumpy heroine and a hero determined to look on the bright side make for some genuine lol-moments and swoony declarations. Besides laughing at their antics, I highlighted phrases like crazy because they were so perfect and fit Betsy and Asher to a tee.
Not to mention seeing characters from books 1-4 and getting those updates on their life we crave had me cheering here and there. I’m not sure I could pick a favorite Sewing in SoCal gal but reading Betsy meant my expectations and made me sad there are no more books in the series.
However, I have a feeling I’ll be rereading these books and revisiting my faves.
*I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. My review was not required nor influenced.
