When Inspiration Strikes
I have a lot of author friends and follow tons more on social media. Experience tells me that every author draws inspiration for their stories from as many difference places as there are stars in the sky. Today, I thought I’d share with you a little about what inspired Someone Found, the next novel in my Laurel Cove Romance series that releases TOMORROW, June 8! If you’d like, you can pre-order the eBook today here, but both the eBook and paperback will be available tomorrow.
First, Some Background

It may help for context if you first know what Someone Found is about. Here’s the description:
Life’s detours can be the most important steps we’re meant to make.
Injured and stranded, hiker Quinn McAlister is stuck recovering in Laurel Cove, North Carolina. The quiet mountain town and its polite residents are a far cry from the stifling home and painful disappointments back in Maine. When her handsome rescuer offers her a place to stay, she’s faced with coming to terms with her past and putting faith, for once, in a hopeful future.
Camp director Eli Moreland has devoted his adult life to serving others. The summer takes an unexpected turn when the beautiful hiker staying in one of the cabins sparks a deep desire for more. Giving her advice about faith comes easy. What’s hard is deciding if he’s ready to reopen his heart to love.
Being lost is worth the pain when being found is so sweet.
The Inspiration
The theme of being lost and found is central to this book. Ever since hearing the parable of the lost sheep in Sunday school for the first time as a child, the fact that God would come searching for me has been really made an impact on my heart. As an adult, the same notion makes me grateful to the point of tears that God loves me that much. So, for a long time I’ve wanted to write a story about a character who discovers the lengths God will go to find her. Add in a sweet, patient hero and the friendly neighbors of Laurel Cove, NC—the fictional town in the Blue Ridge Mountains that serves as the setting—and I think we’ve got a heartwarming and encouraging story of being found in more ways than one.
I Need Visuals!
If you’re like me, visuals really help an idea some together. When I’m brainstorming a new book, I always begin by creating a Pinterest board. Here’s a sample of some images on my Someone Found board. You can browse the entire board here.

I hope when you read Someone Found, its pages hold the same “vibe” that these pieces of inspiration sparked in me. The peacefulness the mountains offer. The ease and slow pace of summer. The friendliness of Laurel Cove. And the things that Quinn and Eli, the main characters, are searching, hoping, and longing for.
Don’t forget you can pre-order the eBook today or grab your copy (eBook or paperback) tomorrow HERE.
I’d love to hear what inspires you. Leave a comment telling me!
