TBT Book Spotlight + #Giveaway: Providence: Hannah’s Journey

Happy Thursday, Friends!

I’m hading over Throwback Thursday to Barbara M. Britton as she talks about her debut novel, Providence: Hannah’s Journey. Grab a cup of tea and coffee and chat with her!

Thanks for having me on Throwback Thursday, Toni. I’m highlighting my debut novel that released in October of 2016. The theme for Providence: Hannah’s Journey is God is in control even in the chaos of life. It’s pertinent to today’s worries, but little did I know when I signed my publishing contract in 2015 that I would face a battle with breast cancer. God wouldn’t call me home before my book release, would He? After two surgeries and radiation, I am almost five years breast-cancer free. Praise God.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My publisher had no idea when they chose October as the month to release my book, I would be a survivor of one of the toughest battles I have ever fought.

My advice to all women is:

Have a yearly 3D mammogram

Don’t wait to biopsy if something shows up on the imaging—even if an ultrasound says you’re okay

Advocate for the best medical care for YOU

Don’t suffer in silence. Prayer support is priceless

Here’s a blurb for my first work of Biblical Fiction. A story similar to II Kings 5 focusing on a servant girl who had an unwavering faith in God. In this story, we see faith in God grow in the heart of a foreign-born commander.

About the Book

Determined to restore her family’s honor, Hannah escapes Jerusalem in hopes of finding the prophet and convincing him to restore her deformities. Gilead, a young Hebrew guard sympathetic to her plight, willingly accompanies her. On their way, they are captured by a band of raiders

Hannah is forced to serve in the household of the commander of the Aramean army, an officer who is in need of healing himself. Meanwhile Gilead is being used as sword practice for the Aramean army.

Hannah must act fast to save Gilead and herself. But survival means coaxing the prophet of Israel to heal an enemy commander.

    1. Hi ReadingBetweenTheChaos. Yes, my book launch was launching among the chaos. Looking back, God gave me the best distraction from my cancer.
The theme for “Providence” is God is in control even in the chaos of life. I lived that theme. I joked that on my next book I was going to choose a fun theme.

  2. I love to read about someone’s interpretation on the life of the often forgotten people who by choice made an impact for God. The title describes one of my favorite characteristics of God. Thank you for advocating for 3D Mammograms and pushing for answers instead of waiting. Everyone needs to know that they can advocate for themselves and get 2nd, 3rd and so on opinions.

    1. Hi Attennos. I don’t want other women to go through what I went through with cancer. God was gracious to me as I waited eight months for a biopsy because everyone said I was fine when the ultrasound was clear. Well, I had cancer and if it was a fast growing kind, I may not be here today. I don’t want anyone to wait if something shows up on a mammogram–biopsy. Life is too precious. Thanks for joining us today.

  3. Barbara Britton’s series Daughters of Zelophehad is absolutely fantastic. This series also needs to go on my TBR list. I’m so happy that I can share Barbara’s books with my friend’s daughters who are in their very early teens.

  4. Hi Roxanne! This one might be for older teens. You may want to read it first. I’m a big fan of the daughters of Zelophehad. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of them for most of my Christian life. I’m glad you liked the series. Thanks for sharing them with younger readers. We need Christian fiction for our young readers. Thanks for commenting. It’s great “seeing” you here.
