Book Review: Stay with Me

Happy Tuesday, Reader Friends!

How is your May going? I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. I’ve been enjoying the marvelous releases going on this month. Have you read Becky Wade’s Stay With Me yet? If not, read below to find out why you should.

About the Book

Loving her is a risk he can’t afford . . . and can’t resist.

When acclaimed Bible study author Genevieve Woodward receives an anonymous letter referencing her parents’ past, she returns to her hometown in the Blue Ridge Mountains to chase down her family’s secret. However, it’s Genevieve’s own secret that catches up to her when Sam Turner, owner of a historic farm, uncovers the source of shame she’s worked so hard to hide.

Sam has embraced his sorrow, his isolation, and his identity as an outsider. He’s spent years carving out both career success and peace of mind. The last thing he wants is to rent the cottage on his property to a woman whose struggles stir his worst failure back to life. Yet can he bear to turn her away right when she needs him most?

My Thoughts

Stay with Me is the first book in the Misty River romance series. (Psst, there’s a prequel you can download for FREE here.) In this new series, Ms. Wade creates a tranquil place filled with characters who are all searching for the answers of their heartache.

First up is Sam Turner and Genevieve (a name I can never spell and rely on spell check to fix) Woodward. What I love about their story is they have lots of problems.

Now I know that my sound weird, but in a world full of problems, seeing a book address some of those and bring in the hope of God is a breath of fresh air. I loved that Ms. Wade wasn’t afraid to address grief (whether losing a person, a dream, etc.). I’m also thankful she threw in Same as Gen’s hero because he’s a man worthy of the moniker.

Don’t let the gruff exterior fool you. Sam Turner is a marshmallow whenever Gen comes around. But its not a one-sided relationship. The bring each other’s issues to the front and turn to the answer (God).

A great start to a new series.

*I received a complimentar copy from the publisher. My review was not required nor influenced.

About the Author

During her childhood in California, Becky frequently produced homemade plays starring her sisters, friends, and cousins.  These plays almost always featured a heroine, a prince, and a love story with a happy ending.  She’s been a fan of all things romantic ever since.

Becky and her husband lived overseas in the Caribbean and Australia before settling in Dallas, Texas.  It was during her years abroad that Becky’s passion for reading turned into a passion for writing.  She published three historical romances for the general market, put her career on hold for many years to care for her kids, and eventually returned to writing sheerly for the love of it.  She’s delighted to be penning warm, wry, and heartwarming contemporary romances for the Christian market.  She’s the Christy and Carol award winning author of My Stubborn Heart, the Porter Family series, and the Bradford Sisters Romance series.

These days Becky can be found failing but trying to keep up with her housework, sweating at the gym, carting her kids around town, playing tennis, hunched over her computer, eating chocolate, or collapsed on the sofa watching TV with her husband.
