I write what I love to read. Stories about women. I don’t write romances, but I like to include a little romance, either married or dating, in every story.
Two authors who have been great examples to me are Dee Henderson and Robin Jones Gunn. Soon I plan to start rereading (I don’t know how many times I’ve read it,) Dee Henderson’s O’Malley Series. Robin Jones Gunn writes about many subjects, and some of my favorite of hers are the Sister chicks books.
Two authors I’ve had the joy of working with as critique partners are Mary Lou Cheatham and Janet W. Ferguson. Again, a wide variety of topics.
I enjoy reading and writing about stay-at-home moms, as well as wandering around different kinds of employment settings.
Relationships fascinate me. Siblings, parents and children, best friends, neighbors. Relationships between people at different stages of life.
And I want to write about how people who have stumbled or who are struggling find hope and healing from God’s grace in their everyday lives.
My book, ALL MY TEARS, which will be released April 2, is a collection of five novellas, which gave me the opportunity to walk through the lives of women in a variety of situations.
Read how Cassie’s brother, and a few other fun characters, help her learn to deal with chronic depression.
Watch Beth find hope as a recovering alcoholic, with help from her father, who has beginning dementia; the neighbor in his nineties who lives across the street; her best friend from middle school who is back in her life after almost twenty years. A former—maybe soon to be again—boyfriend?
Will Martie and her niece Kim be able to become each other’s new family after the death of Kim’s parents?
Kathleen needs to conquer her fears, renew her obedience to God, and find peace for her marriage and children.
And Ann struggles to believe her husband and children, and God, can forgive her.

About the Author
Kathy McKinsey grew up on a pig farm in Missouri, and although she’s lived in cities for nearly 40 years, she still considers herself a farm girl.
She’s been married to Murray for 31 years, and they have five adult children.
She’s had two careers before writing—being a stay-at-home-Mom and working as a rehabilitation teacher of the blind.
Now she lives in Lakewood, Ohio with her husband and two of her children. Besides writing, she enjoys activities with her church, editing for other writers, braille transcribing, crocheting, knitting, and playing with the cat and dogs.
