Interview
Toni: Thank you so much for joining me today. Tell us how the idea for Forgetting My Way Back to You came about.
Karina: Forgetting My Way Back to You is comprised of parts of my first book, which was about a woman who developed selective amnesia after suffering a head trauma. As young as I was—eighteen—when I started, I’d already experienced some events I wouldn’t have minded forgetting, just to be free of that baggage. Thus, like many stories, it began with the illusive What if?
Toni: Same here! What type of research did you have to do regarding Charlee’s injury?
Karina: I looked into what induced a coma and the different prognoses for them. As far as her memory loss went, I searched through the various types of amnesia and treatment options to ensure accuracy. On the physical aspect, I researched how one would treat a back injury and broken arm.
Toni: Sounds like you did your research. What is the message you hope the reader takes away after reading Forgetting My Way Back to You?
Karina: No relationship is perfect, and it would sometimes be nice to forget arguments and painful moments. When it comes to real, true love, though, those tests build your bond and you want to be together—baggage and all.
Toni: What’s next for you on your writing journey?
Karina: After Forgetting My Way Back to You comes out, I hope to further pursue finding a home for my mystery series, The Unde(a)feted Detective Series, which follows a deaf detective.
Toni: Awesome! Would you choose rom com movie or period dramas?
Karina: Rom-coms
Toni: Same! Coffee or tea?
Karina: Coffee
Toni: I love tea! Book or movie?
Karina: Book
Toni: Books are usually better. 🙂 Chocolate or candy?
Karina: CHOCOLATE!
Toni: Lol. 🙂 Last but not least, what can readers do to support you on your writing journey?
Karina: If you enjoy my work, please let others know. As the saying goes, “Tell your friends!”
Toni: Readers, do you have any questions for Karina?
