Interview

Toni: Welcome, Caitlyn! Thank you for joining me today.

Caitlyn: Thank you so much for having me, Toni!

Toni: I’m happy to have you here. 🙂 Before we talk about Deadly Obsession, let’s learn more about you. Are you a…Mountain or beach fan?

Caitlyn: Mountain! The Green Mountains are in the distance all around my home and every time I look at them it always makes me feel safe and fills me with awe at the beauty of God’s creation!

Toni: That sounds like an awesome view. Coke or Pepsi drinker?

Caitlyn: Neither. I actually love to drink water and I’m also a big fan of tea (hot or iced depending on the season).

Toni: Let’s hear it for tea! Facebook or Twitter fan?

Caitlyn: Facebook.

Toni: Same. Romance or suspense movie watcher?

Caitlyn: I love both so much! My ideal would be a suspense with a bit of romance. A protective hero who will stop at nothing to save the woman he loves, never fails to make me melt!

Toni: Agreed! Tell us what you think readers will love the most about Kennedy Stevens.

Caitlyn: I love that Kennedy is very smart and strong, independent but willing to accept help when she needs it, and that she is very flawed and real. Her character growth and faith journey came straight from God and still touches my heart every time I read it. It is my hope that readers will love Kennedy and her journey every bit as much as I do.

Toni: What kind of research did you have to do to bring authenticity to this novella?

Caitlyn: Confession: I didn’t do much research, which I know is super bad! LOL! But, in my defense, I started my research by visiting the FBI’s website where I promptly discovered that because an individual MUST be at least 23 years old and have a college degree in order to be eligible to apply to become an FBI agent, there was no way that my whole story idea of a teenager being an FBI agent would ever be possible in reality. Since Kennedy being a teenage FBI agent was a key point in my story, I made the decision at that point to just do a bit of general research about the FBI, and give free rein to the “hmm, what if…there could be a teenage FBI agent” scenario my imagination had cooked up.

Toni: Got it. What three elements are always present in your writing?

Caitlyn: Faith. My relationship with Jesus is the most important part of my life. Without Him I couldn’t write a single word. Also, because I’m an introvert my writing is my best way of ministering to others. God will always be present in everything I write!

At least a tad bit of suspense to keep the pages flying and hopefully get the reader’s adrenaline pumping!

Strong heroines who are also flawed and (I hope!) relatable to the reader.

Toni: Love that! If you could meet any author,(dead or alive) who would it be and why?

Caitlyn: There are so many authors I would absolutely love to meet, but if I can only pick one it would be Dani Pettrey! I indie-published my first novella the same year her debut novel was released. I have been a huge fan of hers ever since I read her first book, Submerged. She is such an inspiration to me and her books have had a big influence on my development as a writer. I have had the privilege to get to know Dani a bit online, she’s so sweet and totally awesome and I would love to have the opportunity to meet her in person!

Toni: You must! She’s just as awesome in person. Lastly, can you tell us what you’re working on now?

Caitlyn: Right now I’m in the editing phase of a short story called LOVE RESCUES that stars a very minor character from Deadly Obsession. Rick Manning is a former military and FBI sniper who is now working for local law enforcement.

After tragedy strikes at his sister’s house during a hostage situation where he is on the job as a sniper, Rick, who is completely heartbroken and despite begging God’s forgiveness more times than he can count is unable to forgive himself runs back to his hometown to try and start over, but then he runs into his first and only love, Danica, the girl who broke his heart several years earlier. Will she help him find his way back to Jesus? And is there a chance they never stopped loving each other?

I actually wrote this story because my brother wanted Rick to have a story of his own! Writing romance isn’t really my strong suit, I’m much better at writing suspense and action, but I adore second chance romances so I thought I’d give it a shot! I love this story so much and I’m hoping to publish it sometime this summer.

Thanks again so much for having me, Toni!

Toni: You’re welcome! Readers, do you have any questions for Caitlyn?
