Happy Monday, Reader Friends!
Today I have my awesome critique partner, Andrea Boyd, on the blog today. We’re discussing her latest release, Irresistibly Yours. Have you had a chance to read it yet? If not, read on to see why you should. 😉
About the Book
The Blurb: “Marriage is no picnic. At least the one Vivian Emerson shared with her late husband hadn’t been. Unfortunately, the devastation Craig had brought into her life didn’t ended with his death. Not only did he leave Vivian without closure, he had to go and die in a way that made her the talk of the whole state of South Carolina and beyond. Now her daughter wants nothing to do with her because of him. She would just stick with the single life from now on, thank you very much.
For the last fourteen years since the death of his wife, Bo Manning never even considered wanting another woman in his life. That is until he comes to the rescue of a certain woman with haunting, jade green eyes. Despite Vivian’s resolve not to give her heart to another man, Bo sets out to patiently woo her into the loving relationship he is offering.
Irresistibly Yours reveals God’s fervent effectual call in the form of a classic romance.”
Toni: Welcome, Andrea! Thank you for joining me and allowing me to pick your brain regarding Irresistibly Yours! Tell us, how did you come up with the idea for this book?
Andrea: I had a conversation with a friend about how if anything happened to my husband, I’d never remarry. Then Bo Manning showed up in my dreams every night for a week after that. Nothing romantic—I’d be walking the beach, sitting in church, or deep sea fishing (something I’ve always wanted to do) and he’d be right there beside me. This isn’t unusual for me. I’ve always kept a dream diary and a lot of my ideas come from them.
Toni: That’s so cool! Walden Beach is the setting for this novel. Does it hold any special memories for you or is that only for Bo and Vivian?
Andrea: I LOVE the beach. I would move to live next to the ocean at a moment’s notice if I could. Myrtle Beach, SC is the most common beach vacation destination in this area. I like to make up my own towns and set them down in areas that actually exist. There is a swampy spot in the area just before you get to the NC border and that is where I set Walden Beach.
Toni: I love making up my own towns as well. 🙂 I love that these characters are a little older than the average hero/heroine in a contemporary novel. What made you write for this age group (and tell the readers the age)?
Andrea: Bo Manning is 48 and Vivian Emerson is 45. Because this story is so personal to me, the characters presented themselves as being close to my age. Most of my main characters introduce themselves to me and then tell me what to write. I try not to change them. lol
Toni: Sounds like a smart idea. 🙂 What are three elements that are always included in your writing and why?
Andrea: Romance, Humor, and God. When God called me to write, He gave the repeated message to feed “His sheep.” His sheep are Christians, so my books are geared toward them. I think romance is a perfect example of God’s love for us. And the humor thing wasn’t planned it just showed up as part of my writing style, and I accepted it as one of God’s gifts.
Toni: I love the humor you sprinkle in here and there. Are you a beach or mountain person?
Andrea: Beach! As if there are any doubts after this book.
Toni: Lol. Soda or tea drinker?
Andrea: I mostly stick to water. On occasion when I have soda, I prefer cherry Coke. And here in the South, our tea is sweet and iced, though I admit I prefer mine less sweet than the norm.
Toni: Less sweet? Say it isn’t so! Spring or fall lover?
Andrea: I love both, but I’ll have to go with spring because summer is right behind it.
Toni: Agreed. Book or movies?
Andrea: Come on now! Books are always better than the movies.
Toni: Lol, I just love asking that quesiton. Last but not least, how can the readers pray for your writing journey?
Andrea: I always pray my writing is a blessing to God and that it will fall into the hands of the readers who need it most. But lately, I’ve been asking for specific pray for my next project. It will be another in this series. The main character is Vivian’s sister, and I know her story will need to be handled with care.
Toni: I’ll be praying. Readers, is there anything you’d like to ask Andrea?
