Happy Monday, Reader Friends!
Today Mary L. Ball has stopped by to talk about her novel, Sunny’s Dream. Have you read it? If not, grab a cup of coffee (or tea) and learn more about this romantic story!
About the Book
The Blurb: “Sunny Kast spends her week fighting cyber-crime, and dreaming of her prince charming.
When a man walks into Celestial Investigations, and introduces himself as Trouble, she’s sure he’s not her prince, and positive that he lives up to his name.
After Max Trouble finds an important document his life gets complicated with the know-it-all P.I. hired to track down its owner.
Sunny and Max’s relationship grows. She’s optimistic that he may be her prince charming, but after her car is sabotaged, and she’s almost killed Max’s chauvinist ideas of a female investigator surface.
Will she see God’s perfect plan, or a not-so-perfect relationship?”
Interview
Toni: Welcome, Mary to Soulfully Romantic blog! The readers and I are looking forward to hearing more about Sunny’s Dream. Tell us about it.
Mary: Toni, I’m delighted to be on your blog and share my newest novella with the readers. Here’s the blurb for Sunny’s Dream.

“Sunny’s Dream,” Celestial Investigation, book one. A Christian romantic suspense based on three sisters. Their P.I. skills come in handy in the quaint town of Mercy, North Carolina, a place where romance and mystery unite.”
Toni: What is it about mysteries and suspense novels that grab you so?
Mary: It goes back to the days of being a young reader. The first Nancy Drew mystery I read hooked me. I’ve told my age. LOL. I write romances too, but there’s something special about a little bit of the unknown in a book.
Toni: Nancy Drew is amazing! I always wanted her as a friend. What kind of research did you have to do to lend authenticity to Sunny’s Dream?
Mary: The small towns I write about are based on real places. Most of my other research is done online. In the Celestial Investigation series, the youngest sister’s age was a question. Sunny is the oldest at twenty-six, but the last book is based on the baby in the family, Starr. She’s twenty-one. I had to find out the age requirements and different types of education needed to become an investor in North Carolina. I researched guns and safety-classes. Also, there was the occasional exploration into wills’ to see the possibilities for things going wrong without the family’s knowledge.
Toni: Sounds like you covered the bases. If your book was turned into a movie, who would you cast as Sunny and Max?
Mary: This question stumps me. I don’t watch many shows (except for Hallmark) that highlight young actress/actor. To be honest, I had to search for actress/actors who faces looked like the way I envision my characters. Sunny would be played by Meaghan Jette Martin and Liam Hemsworth would be a good fit for Max.
Toni: Great choices! What message do you hope readers will leave with after they finished the book?
Mary: I think it’s best surmised in the blurb (Will she see God’s perfect plan, or a not-so-perfect relationship) I hope readers take away the notion that every relationship has flaws but with faith we can accept people faults and still love them.
Toni: Good message. What does your writing process look like?
Mary: I don’t have a formula for my writing. I usually jot down the essential elements within a story, and the ending. However, that’s been known to change when my characters start living their plots. 🙂 I write when possible and as often as I can. I’m a little organized phobic, so I can’t work on a novel if my house is in shambles or dinner isn’t cooked.
Toni: Good to know. 🙂 Last but not least, do you have any last words for the readers?
Mary: I want to thank everyone for checking out Toni’s blog. Also, I would like to ask all you readers a question.
What’s the best thing you like about winter? It’s research. 🙂
Toni: Readers, do you have any questions for Mary?

What I like most about winter is seeing it snow, and the quiet calm that seems to descend when hardly anyone is outside. It often looks like a winter wonderland! I enjoyed this interview and getting to know Mary Ball.

The best thing I like about winter is the calm as well, the slower pace. The beauty of sparkling snow. Loved the interview!

The slower pace is much needed after a busy summer and fall, isn’t it?
