Y’all, Ronie Kendig has done it again!! Bigger, better than ever before. I’m in awe at her storytelling skills right now. I just devoured Conspiracy of Silence and rushed to my blog to type up this review, lest I forget any smidgen of details.

First you need to know, Conspiracy of Silence, the 1st book in The Tox Files, is like Da Vinci Code meets Elisha’s Bones meets her Discarded Heroes series. It is that AMAZING! I had to read every single word, afraid I would miss something pivotal.

The history, fight scenes, romantic tension, all made for a page turning read. Seriously!! It was like normal Ronie Kendig writing after drinking an energy drink. Which probably explains my half-manic, almost incoherent review. I’m just trying to convey the awesomeness that lies within this book.

Let me slow it down a bit. *breathe, Toni* Okay, Cole “Tox” Russell, who we met in The Warrior’s Seal (0.5 in Tox Files), is back from the dead…or at least that’s what everyone else believes. He’s been called back because he’s the only one able to carry out the government’s mission. Of course, he calls in his team, Cell, Chiji, Ram, and Haven “Kasey” Cortes.

I absolutely LOVE his team. Chiji holds a special place in my heart. Wise and can wield kali sticks like you wouldn’t believe. I can’t wait to see him in the rest of the series.

And Ram!! Oh, the intrigue. His background is so shrouded in mystery I devoured every clue and hint about him. I definitely want him on my team.

And Cell…sarcasm at its finest! I loved him for his dry humor alone.

Then add in Haven who has a history with Cole…well folks, I was done for. Ms. Kendig knocked my socks off with her history, mystery, their romance, and running-for-your-life tension. I cannot wait to read book 2, Crown of Souls. Never have I been so sad to close a book.

Fiction Aficionado said it best in her meme:
Y’all, it’s seriously that good of a book. So go out and get it or borrow it from your local library. You HAVE to put it on your TBR pile and then skip it to the #1 spot. And once you’ve read it, be sure to come back so we can talk. I seriously need someone to share all my favorite parts with. 🙂

*I give this 5 out of 5 stars!!!
**I received a free copy from the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.

About the Author

Picture

An Army brat, Ronie Kendig grew up in the classic military family, with her father often TDY and her mother holding down the proverbial fort. Their family moved often, which left Ronie attending six schools by the time she’d entered fourth grade. Her only respite and “friends” during this time were the characters she created.

It was no surprise when she married a military veteran—her real-life hero—in June 1990.  Married more than twenty years, Ronie and her husband  have homeschooled for the last eighteen years. Despite the craziness of life, Ronie finds balance and peace with her faith, family, and retired military working doge in Northern Virginia.

Ronie has a deep love and passion for people, especially hurting people, which is why she pursued and obtained a B.S. in Psychology from Liberty University. Ronie speaks and teaches across the country and mentors other writers.

Since launching onto the publishing scene in 2010, Ronie and her books have hit bestseller lists and garnered awards and critical acclaim.

  3. I love reading military stories. It reminds me of the sacrifices these men and women make along with their families. The holidays are not the same for them. Each day is viewed differently when your loved one life is on the line. It gives me a true picture in a sense of their struggles because I would read real life accounts and be humbled by what they have to deal with on a continued bases.
