All, My Thoughts

My Thoughts: How to Love Your Neighbor

Picture

Happy Saturday, Reader Friends!
I pray you had an awesome week and have an awesome weekend planned. As we go out and about, I wanted to share my thoughts on how to love our neighbors. It can be difficult, but when we remember the Scriptures of the Bible, our hearts should be lightened that God gave us a road map.

1. Elevate Them

Philippians 2:3 tells us, “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves” (KJV).

Have you ever noticed how you treat someone you admire and respect? You go out of your way to help them. You praise them and let them know how you feel. We should treat all the same and not just people we like. This can be difficult because we are often quick to judge but ask God to help us esteem others better. It’s a prayer I’m sure He’ll answer.

2. View Them Through the Lens of God

Genesis 1:27 states, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” (KJV).

That man ahead of you in the checkout line…he’s created in God’s own image. The woman who cut you off on the highway the other day…same. When we remind ourselves that we’re all children of God, created in His image, our behavior towards one another has to shift. Should shift. We can’t disrespect God’s creation, it’s not how He’s called us to act.

3. Remember the Golden Rule

Matthew 7:12 urges us to, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” (KJV).

It’s the rule every parent teaches their child. It’s something that schools reinforce. Yet, it’s often the first thing we forget when affronted. No one wants to be judged…so don’t. No one wants to be insulted…so don’t. Such a simple rule but one so readily discarded. We (The Church) have to be an example to those watching. If we don’t remember the Golden Rule, why would the world?

Please share…how do you love your neighbors?

  1. Yes, we should show God’s love to everyone. The simplest act of kindness can change a person’s whole outlook on life. 🙂
