My TBR Pile – Week of 7/4/16

Happy 4th of July, reader friends!! I’ve decided to take the extra down day to read. Big surprise, huh?

Thankfully, my pile extended thanks to the eBook credit a lot of us received. Here’s what’s in my pile this week!

Tainted by Morgan L. Busse

I’m so excited to read this novel. Doesn’t the cover just grab you?! If it doesn’t check out the blurb below.

The Blurb: ”What Happens When Your Soul Dies? Kat Bloodmayne is one of the first women chosen to attend the Tower Academy of Sciences. But she carries a secret: she can twist the natural laws of science. She has no idea where this ability came from, only that every time she loses control and unleashes this power, it kills a part of her soul. If she doesn’t find a cure soon, her soul will die and she will become something else entirely. After a devastating personal loss, Stephen Grey leaves the World City Police Force to become a bounty hunter. He believes in justice and will stop at nothing to ensure criminals are caught and locked up. However, when Kat Bloodmayne shows up in his office seeking his help, his world is turned upside down.Together they search World City and beyond for a doctor who can cure Kat. But what they discover on the way goes beyond science and into the dark sphere of magic.”

Blueberry Cupcake Mystery by Naomi Miller

I have to admit, the title alone grabs me so in the TBR pile it goes. 🙂

The Blurb: ”In the small town of Abbott Creek, mystery is as much a part of daily life as The Sweet Shop’s sugar cookies.

Katie Chupp spends her days at The Sweet Shop, taking care of customers and baking delicious treats . . . not exactly a profession where one expects to be thrown into the midst of mysteries and mayhem.

But when the bakery is broken into, someone has to find the thief . . . besides finding another place to do the baking and get the orders to the customers.

Is this a random theft, or is the thief trying to ruin the town’s Independence Day celebration?“

Operation Valentine

I’m a fan of Ms. Maddrey’s so I didn’t have to question whether or not this would make it to my TBR pile.

The Blurb: ”Once love is lost, can it be found? When Annabelle Elliot returned his engagement ring six years ago, Rick Wentworth buried his broken heart in his job at Intelligence Associates, Inc. Returning from his overseas assignment, a newly awarded contract forces him into daily contact with her. Working with Rick is a constant reminder of what Annabelle gave up when she let herself be persuaded to focus on a career instead of love. Now, she admits she made a mistake, but reconciliation seems impossible. Can Annabelle find the courage to let Rick see her heart? And if she does, will he forgive her? This sweet contemporary Christian romance novella, inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion, is a modern reminder that love is worth waiting for.
