All, My Thoughts

My Thoughts: A Witness Story #3

Happy Saturday, Reader Friends!!

Today I’m sharing another witness story. This time my story takes me to 2012. If you read my second witness story (HERE), you’ll remember my husband and I were going through an unemployment season. We were pretty sure that if he got a new job, it would require us to move.

But where would God move us?

I had no clue so instead I prayed to God asking for specific characteristics. When I prayed, I was always reminded of a scripture in Matthew.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
-Matthew 7:7 KJV
So I decided to be specific in my request.

I wanted to live in a small town but close to a metropolis.

I asked that there be plenty of stuff to do with my kids that were affordable. There wasn’t a lot of things in Vegas that I enjoyed or my kids.

I wanted places I could visit and explore. Las Vegas wasn’t so close to places I wanted to visit.

I wanted a place where we could find a church family. Our last one was severely divided between leadership and church attendees.

I wanted to be able to stay at home with my kids.

God’s answer: Northern Virginia.

We moved in July to a brand new state. Our neighborhood was in a quiet area, 0.5 miles away from my kids future elementary school and 1 mile from the local library. Win!

We were 30 miles away from our nation’s capital (metropolis), which is filled with many places to visit for free (affordability).

After a few months of searching, we discovered a church that quickly learned my name and that of my kids. They ended up helping our family in so many ways that would be another blog post.

And last, I could stay at home. That was probably the biggest blessing of all. I love my children and staying home offered me the ability to spend time with them and help them in ways I pray brands a memory on their heart.

Don’t be afraid to ask God for specific blessings. He hears us!
