This week I’m sharing another witness story. Before I do, let remind you of Acts 1:8b, “and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (KJV).
This week’s witness story takes me back to 2011. 2011 was a tough year for my family and I. You see my husband was laid off that year. We went from a dual income to just having my income. Let me tell you, my income was nothing to smile about. I had a job to give us spending money, not to be the bread winner.
Instead of panicking, we prayed. We continued to tithe and we continued to pray. One by one, our debts found us. Slowly, my self assurance seemed to dwindle. My accounts slowly dipped into the red.
Then one day I checked the mail. Of course, I figured it would be nothing but pretty colored envelops to remind us of our delinquency in payments. Instead I saw a pretty envelope from a friend. Considering it wasn’t my birthday or anyone else’s in our homes, I was a little confused.
When we opened the card money fell out. My husband and I were floored. We read the card and tears fell fast and furious from my eyes. You see a year before our troubles, we gave some money to a friend of ours. He and his wife were having financial problems and they were unable to throw a birthday party for their son. So my husband gave it to them. It wasn’t a loan just a gift from us. (FYI: my husband has the biggest giver heart I’ve ever known and it was his idea to help them out.)
Well, this card they sent us was a thank you card. Apparently, they never forgot what we did for them (despite relocating for a better job) and enclosed was the amount we had given them.
I cannot describe what a blessing this was in the midst of our trial. For me, it was a reminder that my God will continue to supply all my needs. It was a reminder not to worry.
Beautiful. I love to read your post each time I read I leave feeling ever more encouraged. My God can do anything he’s got the power.
