Review of Catherine Finger’s Cleansed by Death

Picture

Happy Tuesday, Reader Friends! Today I’ll be sharing my thoughts on Catherine Finger’s thriller, Cleansed by Death. Ms. Finger is a new author to me and as always I rub my hands in glee when I can add a new author’s work to my TBR pile. This one shot straight to the top. But before I share my review, let me give you some necessary links.

Cleansed by Death is available for pre-order at Amazon and reader friends, it is a must read!

To follow Ms. Finger via the lovely avenues of social media, head to her Website, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Goodreads sites.

Now for my review…

From the opening scene of Cleansed by Death, I was gripped by Ms. Finger’s writing style. She writes in first person pov, which I normally don’t enjoy because so many writers misuse it. However, Ms. Finger is definitely a skilled writer because after the initial thought of “first pov…groan,” I entered the world of Jo Oliver and I was hooked.

Y’all there is so much to talk about I don’t even know where to begin. Jo Oliver is the police chief of Haversport, Illinois, but that is by no means the beginning or end of the complex life she leads. Jo is married, a mentor to a six-year-old girl, who she wants to adopt, and loyal friend to many.

Jo Oliver is fierce! And then she’s not. Gripped by horror after horror, she battles life at every turn. She battles decisions. Good vs evil. Questions regarding a good God. And she fights on.

All the issues she faces make for an intense-must-turn-the-page read. Now this is book one in the Jo Oliver series which promises to be better than the equivalents. If you’ve ever heard of Sue Grafton or Janet Evanovich, you know what I mean. For those of you who haven’t, they write novels around female leads, each book regarding a certain case. I love books like that and since Josie Oliver is a new found Christian, the God element will automatically make the read that much more enjoyable, in my opinion.

So, if you’re interested in seeing how a woman handles the duties of wife, police chief, mentor, and friend, click on the pre-order link above. If you’re a fan of thrillers, suspenses, mysteries…you get my drift…see link above. And if you’re not sure this genre is your thing, I say take a chance. It’s not often a book comes along that grabs you by the shirttails and won’t let go until the last page.

* I give this a 4 out of 5 although I wish for 1/2 system to be created.
** I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
