It was while I was perusing my newsfeed when I was hit with the question: What is truth?
We like to think it’s a simple matter of fact versus opinion, but I don’t think that’s the answer. The world would have us believe that truth is based on fact and that you cannot dress it up or sugar coat it. But I disagree.
You see I believe that what God says is the truth. Nothing more, nothing less. So how can we distinguish between the world’s truth and God’s? Easy, open your Bible.
The world would tell us anyone over a size 6 (female wise) is fat. God says, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
The world tells us that a white lie is okay. God says, “lying lips are an abomination” (Proverbs 12:22).
It’s hard to retrain our thoughts and remember God’s truth, but that is why in Romans we are cautioned to “renew our mind.” It is possible, with God’s help and guidance.
Please, if you’re holding on to the world’s truth–that you’re a liar, cheater, fat, loser, etc–look up what God says about You. He sent His only Son for you because He loves you that much. He does not want to condemn you, but save you.
Hold on to His truth and be blessed!
